Money worries are keeping America up at night — literally. In a new survey of 3,200 adults by NestEgg IQ, 62% said they lose sleep over money at least once a month, rising to 74% among renters under 35.

The study scored the 100 largest U.S. metros on a composite financial-stress index built from four measures: sleep lost to money worries, bank-balance checks per day, emergency savings, and retirement confidence.

Memphis, TN topped the index at 78/100, driven by the highest share of respondents reporting no emergency savings at all. New Orleans (76) and Las Vegas (74) followed. Respondents in the most-stressed decile of metros check their bank balance an average of 8.4 times a day.
